An international development organization is seeking a Country Director for a multilayer development program in Nigeria. The program will focus on increasing agricultural productivity in order to support farmer access to markets, strengthen targeted value chains for long-term sustainability and enhance food security through increased smallholder incomes and increased smallholder incomes and increased home consumption.

The program will focus on increasing agricultural productivity in order to support farmer access to markets, strengthen targeted value chains for long-term sustainability and enhance food security through increased smallholder incomes and increased home consumption.

Responsibilities

o   Oversee all administrative support functions of the project including, procurement, financial oversight, data collection and M&E reporting and logistical support of the project.

o   Develop relationships with local organizations, research institutions, government extension offices, farmer groups and businesses working in selected subsectors, currently staple foods, aquaculture, and agriculture, throughout the value chains (production, storage, processing, marketing, and access to credit), and coordinate all aspects of program delivery of implementing partners to meet deliverables.

o   Prepare work plans, budgets, and program reports as needed for the timely implementation of the program.

o   Work with local government officials, target farmers, groups/ associations/ cooperatives emerging private sector and enterprises to conduct of needs assessments, identify needs for technical assistance, prepare of scopes of work to support program objectives.

o   Manage short-term pro bono (volunteer) experts delivering technical assistance.

o   Work with FTF team staff to measure program effectiveness by conducting impact surveys on completed assignments.

o   Provide oversight to project and / or administrative staff to ensure safe and secure support of volunteers while in-country.

Qualifications

o   Minimum of master’s degree in agriculture or related field is required

o   Minimum ten years experience required, preferably including technical and administrative experience managing USAID funded agricultural and rural development projects.

o   Excellent management, communication, and organization skills are essential. Basic computer skills (word-processing, spreadsheets, and databases) are required.

o   Fluency in English is required.
