Job Vacancy at West African Monetary Institutes (WAMI) for Recruits Principal Manager

WAMI's mission is to undertake preparatory activities towards the establishment of the West African Central Bank (WACB), and the launching of a monetary union for the West African Monetary Zone (WAMZ). Activities including multilateral surveillance of macroeconomic performance of Member States, design of the architecture and policy frameworks of the WAMZ monetary union, sensitization of stakeholders, collaboration with external partners, studies, as well as publications of relevant materials in pursuit of this mandate are currently being undertaken by WAMI.

The Institute invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for appointment as:

Job Title: Principal Manager, Partnership and Sensitization

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate and implement a wide range of sensitisation activities for the introduction of the single currency and the establishment of the West African Central Bank

  • Provide and disseminate materials such as press releases, Q&As, brochures and contents for the website of the Institute

  • Design and produce the WAMZ newsletter

  • Review the sensitisation strategy document in place

  • Collaborate with departments of the Institute on inputs and contents of sensitisation activities

  • Provide support to departments on all publications, media and other outreach activities

  • Develop and maintain partnership with International Agencies, Institutions and Donors

  • Prepare funding proposals for donors

  • Carries out any other duties that may be assigned from time to time


Qualification and Experience

  • A minimum of Masters degree in Journalism, International Affairs, Communication Studies, Mass Communication, Advocacy or any other related field

  • At least twelve years working experience in a similar managerial position

  • Experience in developing and implementing communication strategies

  • Experience in working in international organizations, companies and institutions will be an advantage

  • Demonstrate strong ability to work with minimum supervision

  • Fluent in one of WAMI’s two languages (English and French); working knowledge of the other will be an added advantage


Terms of Contract

  • Probationary period of six months, followed by a fixed term upon satisfactory performance
