Job Vacancy for Mobile Plant Maintenance Superintendent: Osborne Recruitment

Our client is a leading mining contracting and civil construction company listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX). Operating for more than 45 years, the company now employs more than 3,000 people across Australia, New Zealand, Asia and Africa.

The client is now recruiting for an experienced Mobile Plant Maintenance Superintendent to join their operations in Nigeria. Within the International open cut mining business unit, they operate a limestone and cement extraction quarry for a local client with particular focus on providing Drill & Blast, Load & Haul, Processing & Materials Handling and Maintenance Support services.

Job Title: Mobile Plant Maintenance Superintendent

Job Location: Calabar - Nigeria

Job Description:

Based in Calabar, Nigeria and reporting to the Project Manager your responsibilities will include:

  • Responsible for the maintenance of open cut mining mobile plant and equipment

  • Delivery of site plant maintenance as required achieving a high quality result, on schedule and within cost

  • Manage compliance to safe work practices within workshops

  • Responsible for the management of workshop and maintenance staff

  • Support, coach and direct onsite Maintenance Supervisors staff

  • Support site component rebuilds and equipment refurbishment

  • Ensure compliance to company standards and policy

  • Strive for continuous improvement


To undertake this role successfully it is essential you have suitable trade qualifications accompanied with significant maintenance supervisory experience. Trade qualifications should be combined with further education beyond trade certificate.

Additionally you should have:

  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills;

  • Commercial acumen;

  • Knowledge within maintenance management, supplier management and strategy execution;

  • Previous experience along with knowledge of open cut mobile mining equipment including Caterpillar, Komatsu and Liebherr;

  • Complete understanding of diesel engine construction, maintenance and operation;

  • Experienced in skills transfer and team development in a cross cultural environment;

  • Supervision of National workforces with previous West African experience is an advantage.


Terms and conditions of the assignment will include:

  • 8 week on and 2 week off rotation from point of hire
