Job description Piping Superintendent




  • Carries out preliminary and piping engineering studies in-house as it relates to notifications.

  • Ensures that facilities engineering contractors submit all deliverables on time and reviews are carried out in a timely manner.

  • Controls the quality of the deliverables received from third parties.

  • Prepares data sheets, MTO for flow lines & production facilities relating to notifications.

  • Draws up piping materials classes, specifications for material requests with UNISUP numbers to Procurement.

  • Reads and interprets facility engineering drawings, designs and make necessary modifications or recommendations.

  • Interfaces with DW ECP Decentralized buyer and Procurement Department for materials requisition and delivery follow ups in a timely manner.

  • Prepares Service Specifications with relevant drawings, P&IDs and Pictures etc for approval prior to requesting commercial proposals.

  • Provides a second level review vendors’ timesheets for personnel and equipment after field work.

  • Follows up contractor’s activities during onshore and offshore fabrication or repairs works and ensure compliance with project specifications.

  • Reports basis for changes in design during construction phase via the approved technical queries procedure.

  • Ensures that scope of work is fulfilled as per the contractual requirements.

  • Maintains good relationships with FO/MTNC team, with DW-ECP teams and with Contractor(s) being flexible enough but also strict when necessary (safety or other aspects) to achieve the objectives of the Site Modification Requests or of the Warranty Claim issues.

  • Ensures that specific HSE MS aspects are respected by the Piping Construction Contractor(s).

  • Demonstrates evidence of good knowledge about OPERCOM system and its ICAPS software tool when large Contractor works are present.

  • Anticipates and manages promptly technical queries that may arise from execution contractors after detailed engineering activities.

  • Anticipates problems by checking in due time planning aspects related to all interface issues during piping intervention works.

  • Responsible for reviewing additional works in the case of scope creep and advising of the additional cost impact and schedule change.

  • Reviews detailed piping engineering dossier to ensure that quality and correct engineering practices have been followed together at the detailed engineering phase.

  • Participates in technical and project progress review meetings when required.

  • Reviews & approves Piping Engineering construction dossier prior to dispatch to the field for implementation.


Requirements Piping Superintendent




  • Minimum Qualification: B. Sc./B. Eng. (Piping Eng.) with 10 - 20 years experience in Piping Engineering design, Site supervision, Installation, Pre-commissioning and Commissioning in an Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Industry preferably on an FPSO.

  • Experience: Verifiable experience in the use of MS Office packages, AutoCAD and commissioning software like ICAPS will be an added advantage. Fluent in English, strong communication skills, manages interfaces with Instrum/control and HVAC teams on Piping subjects.

  • For this position preference will be given to Nigerian Nationals. In case expatriate candidates are selected, it is a prerequisite he/she is tasked to mentor and train a Nigerian understudy.

  • Resident

  • Service is based in Lagos with constant visits to FPSOs.
