Job vacancy at American Embassy Abuja for Carpenter

The following job opportunity exists at the United States Embassy in Nigeria:

Job Title: Carpenter (Abuja Facilities Maintenance)

OPEN TO: All Interested Candidates

POSITION TITLE: Carpenter – FSN-04/FP-AA

OPENING DATE: October 16, 2012

CLOSING DATE: October 29, 2012

WORK HOURS: Full-time; 40 hours/week

SALARY: OR – Ordinarily Resident–N1,393,184 p.a.
(Starting basic salary). In addition to the basic salary, all allowances will be paid in accordance with the Mission Local Compensation Plan.

BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:
Incumbent performs carpentry/furniture work assignments at various Embassy offices and residential locations. The incumbent is responsible for planning, sawing, sand papering and finishing of all wood works. He/she also installs work stations in the Embassy offices, refinishes furniture to include spraying when necessary.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
NOTE: All applicants MUST address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each criterion or the application will not be considered.

1. Completion of Primary school is required. Completion of vocational training or apprenticeship recognized as producing journeyman carpentry skill is required.

2. Minimum of one (1) year journeyman carpentry experience is required.

3. Level III (Good working knowledge) Speaking/Writing in English is required.

4. Ability to design and build structures with wood is required.

5. Good knowledge of basic structural and carpentry skills is required.

6. A valid Nigerian driver’s license is required.
