Job Title: Site Engineer
Job Summary
Candidate will be responsible for coordinating day to day operations on all construction sites; supervising workers and sub-contractors; monitoring purchase, supply and use of building materials; ensuring compliance with architectural designs and plans; maintaining quality control and providing technological know-how on site.
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and direct activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems;
- Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, and other regulations;
- Interpret and explain plans/designs and contract terms to sub-contractors, workers, and clients.
- Resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems;
- Negotiate costs with sub-contractors. Prepare and submit budget estimates and progress and cost tracking reports;
- Schedule the project in logical steps and budget time required to meet deadlines;
- Select, contract, and oversee workers who complete specific pieces of the project, such as painting or plumbing;
- Study job specifications to determine appropriate construction methods and materials;
- Take actions to deal with the results of delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction site.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- A Bachelors degree or equivalent; OR Post Graduate Diploma in Civil Engineering
- 3-5 years experience cognate experience
- Thorough knowledge of a variety of construction and engineering concepts.
- Ability to motivate, develop, and direct people as they work and identify the best people for the job.
- Great attention to detail, initiative, willingness to lead, take charge and offer opinions and direction.
- Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels - workers, sub-contractors, clients.
