Job Vacancy for Program Assistant at an NGO in Abuja, Nigeria

An international non-governmental organization currently implementing a program to improve the participation of key Nigerian stakeholders in electoral and  political processes is looking for Nigerian citizens to fill positions within its offices in Abuja, Nigeria. These stakeholders include: political parties; election authorities; media; and underrepresented groups such as women, youth and persons with disabilities.

The specific objectives of its program are to:

  • Strengthen capacity of domestic observers and party agents to monitor  national and state elections.

  • Enhance the democratic role of and use of new and traditional media in the political process.

  • To promote stakeholder dialogues on the electoral process.


Job Title: PROGRAM ASSISTANT (PA)

Reporting: The PA reports to the Country Director

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide logistical and administrative support before, during and after program events

  • Assist in the collection of data for monitoring and evaluation of the organization's activities

  • Responsible for filing and keeping program records

  • Conduct research

  • Assist in the collection of data for monitoring and evaluation of organisation's activities

  • Proof-reading and editing, for grammar and style, correspondence and documents before signatures

  • Set up meetings and appointments and prepare files with background materials


Qualifications and Experience

  • University degree in governance, development, social sciences, or project management

  • Not less than 2 years' experience in a similar position or work with a reputable company

  • Experience in design, monitoring and evaluating democratic governance programs

  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft

  • Good writing skills
