Job Vacancy for Database Administrator at First Generation Bank

Job Title: Database Management (Team Lead & Member)

Responsibilities:

  • Administer the database of core banking and ancillary business solutions.

  • Configure oracle on branch servers during the installation process and on other servers as required especially.

  • Help recover customer’s details from the old organisation banking application database and capital bank database.

  • Effectiveness of staff at managing and ensuring availability of database test areas

  • Documentation of all database incidents

  • Responsiveness to user requests for creation of reports etc

  • Backup information of the business applications and maintain a log for review

  • Update Configuration of database to ensure up to date information

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head, Database Administration & Other Applications

  • Perform Database Capacity Management by generating daily database growth report for Management and Planning for future storage requirements for the databases

  • Creating physical database storage structures for off the shelf applications

  • Creating database structure in conformity with the request of the developer for the In house developed applications

  • Maintain database integrity and availability at all time

  • Proactively Ensure Database Availability by verifying that all database instances are up and running while looking out for any error log in database Alert log Files

  • Monitor and optimize the performance of databases

  • Day to day database management by adjusting next extent size of rapidly growing tables and indexes, etc.

  • Administer database management software and related utilities


Requirements:

Team Lead

  • Good technology related university degree preferably in Computer Science/Electrical Electronics Engineering or Numeric Science;

  • Minimum of 7 years cognate IT experience in a bank/ financial institution.

  • Oracle Certification is compulsory.

  • Professional certifications in Microsoft will be added advantage


Team Member

  • Good technology related university degree preferably in Computer Science/Electrical Electronics Engineering or Numeric Science;

  • Minimum of 4 years cognate IT experience in a bank/ financial institution.

  • Professional certifications in Microsoft will be added advantage

  • Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Adequate knowledge of Oracle, SQL server databases

  • Adequate knowledge of System Support functions

  • Adequate knowledge of incident management


Supervisory skills

  • Working knowledge of client server architecture environment

  • Ability to coordinate projects successfully

  • Organization and coordination skills


Generic Skills

  • Possess analytical and problem solving skills

  • Adequate knowledge of Contract management

  • Adequate knowledge of package implementation, support and maintenance.
